BASF ‘Sweetens’ Styrenics Divestment with Copolymers

BASF has widened the scope of the previously announced sale of its styrenics business and announced plans to reorganize its styrenics activities in preparation for divestment. The move follows unsuccessful attempts to sell the business, which it put up for sale more than one year ago (CW, July 18, 2007, p. 11). LyondellBasell, the only company to have shown interest in buying the assets, has pulled out of discussions, sources say.
