BASF, CSM to produce biosuccinic acid, plan commercial unit

BASF and CSM (Diemen, Netherlands) say they will form an equally owned joint venture to produce biobased succinic acid. The news follows three years of research into the project and the announcement, last year, that the companies were considering a jv. BASF and Purac, a subsidiary of CSM, are in the process of establishing the jv, which will be called Succinity (Düsseldorf) and will begin operations in 2013.
