(Tokyo), and Kaneka (Osaka) plan to exit their two joint ventures with Shin-Etsu Chemical and Mitsubishi Chemical that produce chlorine and caustic soda, and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). The jv’s, Kashima Chlorine & Alkali (Kamisu, Japan) and Kashima Vinyl Chloride Monomer (Kamisu), will operate as subsidiaries of Shin-Etsu.
