Al Waha Complex Offline Due to Technical Fault

Sahara Petrochemicals (Riyadh) says its Al Waha joint venture had to take its entire complex at Jubail, Saudi Arabia offline on July 16 due to a technical fault in the effluent recycling compressor. Sahara holds 75% of Al Waha and LyondellBasell has the rest. The jv anticipates repairs to be completed within two weeks. The interruption will lead to a 16,000-m.t. shortfall in the production of polypropylene (PP), worth about SR94 million ($25.1 million) at current PP prices.
