Ube to Increase Capacity for Caprolactam, Nylon in Thailand

Ube Industries says that its Ube Chemicals Asia (Bangkok) subsidiary will increase capacity for caprolactam and nylon compounds at Rayong, Thailand to meet rising demand in Asia. Ube Chemicals Asia was established last February following the merger of Ube’s Thai Caprolactam and Ube Nylon Thailand subsidiaries. Ube holds a 93% stake in Ube Chemicals Asia and Marubeni holds 6%. Ube Chemicals Asia will invest ¥3 billion ($36 million) to add 20,000 m.t./year of caprolactam capacity, and the expansion will raise the company’s total caprolactam capacity to 130,000...
