Toray Builds Carbon Fiber Plant in Korea; Revives Japan Project

Toray Industries says that its Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK; Seoul) subsidiary will build a carbon fiber plant at TAK’s manufacturing site at Gumi, Korea. The plant, which will require an investment of won63 billion ($57 million), will have production capacity for 2,200 m.t./year. Construction is expected to begin early this year and the plant is due to onstream in January 2013.
