Chemical Week Magazine :: Business & Finance :: Asia/Pacific Toray Builds Carbon Fiber Plant in Korea; Revives Japan Project8:47 AM MST | January 21, 2011 | —DEEPTI RAMESH Toray Industries says that its Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK; Seoul) subsidiary will build a carbon fiber plant at TAK’s manufacturing site at Gumi, Korea. The plant, which will require an investment of won63 billion ($57 million), will have production capacity for 2,200 m.t./year. Construction is expected to begin early this year and the plant is due to onstream in January 2013. Toray, meanwhile, has announced that it will resume work on a previously announced expansion of the company’s carbon fiber production facility at Masaki, Japan. The expansion...
