Thai MMA Details Expansion

Thai MMA (Bangkok) has provided additional details of a project to increase methyl methacrylate (MMA) capacity at Map Ta Phut, Thailand (CW, Feb. 7, p. 19). The company will build a second production line with capacity for 90,000 m.t./year of MMA, which will double overall capacity to 180,000 m.t./year for completion in the second quarter of 2010. It will also build a 20,000-m.t./year polymethyl methacrylate unit for completion in the fourth quarter of 2009. Total investment is ¥25 billion-¥30 billion ($206 million-$248 million).
