Chemical Week Magazine :: Business & Finance :: Asia/Pacific Mitsui Doubles Singapore Elastomers11:16 AM MDT | August 7, 2007 | DR Mitsui Chemicals says it will build a 100,000-m.t./year plant in Singapore to double capacity there for the company’s Tafmer alpha-olefin copolymers. The total investment will be about ¥19 billion ($154 million). Mitsui Elastomers Singapore (MELS; Singapore), a wholly owned Mitsui subsidiary, operates the group’s existing 100,000-m.t./year Tafmer plant at Jurong Island, Singapore and will also operate the new unit. Construction of the new plant will begin in March 2008 and completion is due by August 2009. Mitsui also operates a 50,000-m.t./year...
