Mitsui Doubles Singapore Elastomers

Mitsui Chemicals says it will build a 100,000-m.t./year plant in Singapore to double capacity there for the company’s Tafmer alpha-olefin copolymers. The total investment will be about ¥19 billion ($154 million). Mitsui Elastomers Singapore (MELS; Singapore), a wholly owned Mitsui subsidiary, operates the group’s existing 100,000-m.t./year Tafmer plant at Jurong Island, Singapore and will also operate the new unit.
