Mitsubishi Rayon, PTT study carbon fiber manufacturing venture

Mitsubishi Rayon and energy company PTT (Bangkok) say they have signed a memorandum of understanding to study jointly the establishment of a carbon fiber manufacturing business in Southeast Asia. The study will target downstream industries, such as automotive, energy, civil engineering, and infrastructure. Thailand is the likeliest location of a commercial production plant for carbon fiber and composites, depending on the outcome of the study, because of the country’s well-developed automotive industry, PTT and Mitsubishi Rayon say.
