Late-Reporting Japanese Companies Post Mixed Results

Late-reporting Japanese chemical companies recorded mixed results for their fiscal first half ended September 30, 2011. DIC Corp. reported a slight improvement in earnings during the period, Tosoh reported a huge rise in profits, and Tokuyama reported a fall in profits. Quarterly results were not disclosed. DIC reported a 2.4% increase in net profits for the six months ended September 30, compared with the year-ago period, to ¥12.53 billion ($160.6 million).
