Japanese companies report improved earnings, sales

Most of the leading Japanese chemical companies swung to profit or achieved higher earnings for their fiscal first nine months, ended 31 December 2013. Companies also report higher sales for the period. An improvement in the global economy; a gradual recovery in the Japanese economy, including a revival in consumer spending; and a depreciation of the Japanese currency boosted chemical producers’ financial performances.
