India, Japan sign rare earths deal

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI; Tokyo) says it has signed an intergovernmental memorandum with India for the joint production and export of rare earths by companies based in each country. State-owned Indian Rare Earths Ltd. (Mumbai) will establish a joint venture company with Toyota Tsusho (Nagoya, Japan) to produce rare earths in India including for export, METI says.
