ExxonMobil to build halobutyl rubber plant in Singapore

ExxonMobil Chemical says it will build facilities to manufacture halobutyl rubber and Escorez hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin at the company’s recently expanded petrochemical complex in Singapore. Engineering and procurement activities have begun, and construction is expected to start in the second half of 2014, the company says. The project is likely to be completed in 2017. ExxonMobil Chemical is a major supplier of halobutyl rubber to the tire industry, and the Singapore project will add production capacity of 140,000 m.t./year. The hydrogenated...
