China Slaps Antidumping Duties on Caprolactam from the U.S. and EU

The Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom; Beijing) says that China has imposed antidumping duties on imports of caprolactam from the U.S. and European Union (EU), for five years starting October 22, 2011. An antidumping investigation was launched in April 2010 following complaints from two undisclosed subsidiaries of Sinopec. Mofcom, in its final ruling announced in mid-October, says that caprolactam imports from the U.S. and EU were dumped in the Chinese market, causing substantial damage to the Chinese caprolactam industry.
