The company signed letters of intent last January to build industrial ethanol production facilities at Nanjing and Zhuhai, which would each have an initial capacity of 400,000 m.t./year and each require an investment of $300 million. Celanese announced earlier this month that, prior to these projects, the company plans to modify its integrated acetyls facility at Nanjing with its TCX advanced ethanol technology.
