Celanese Advances Ethanol start-up in China

Celanese says it expects to begin industrial ethanol production in China earlier than previously announced. The company signed letters of intent last January to build industrial ethanol production facilities at Nanjing and Zhuhai, which would each have an initial capacity of 400,000 m.t./year and each require an investment of $300 million. Celanese announced earlier this month that, prior to these projects, the company plans to modify its integrated acetyls facility at Nanjing with its TCX advanced ethanol technology.
