CPhI: India targets position as 'pharmacy of the world'

India has set ambitious growth targets for pharmaceutical exports, the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF; Gurgaon) and Pharmexcil (Hyderabad) announced recently at the CPhI trade show at Frankfurt. Exports of generics from India are growing at 24% annually, and that growth is forecast to continue for the next four years, according to IBEF and Pharmexcil. India ranks among the top six producers of pharmaceuticals globally, accounting for about 1.4% of the industry in value terms and about 10% by volume, according to IBEF and Pharmexcil.
