Asahi Glass expands chlor-alkali capacity in Indonesia

Asahi Glass says it will invest about ¥40 billion ($406 million) to increase production capacity for chlor-alkali products and derivatives at the manufacturing site of the company’s Asahimas Chemical (Jakarta) subsidiary. This site is at Cilegon, Indonesia. Asahimas Chemical was established in 1986, and Asahi Glass holds a 52.5% stake in the company, Mitsubishi Corp. owns an 11.5% stake, and Rodamas and Ableman Finance each own an 18% stake. The expansion project will add 200,000 m.t./year of caustic soda capacity; 400,000 m.t./year of vinyl chloride...
