Ajinomoto Forms Alliance

Ajinomoto (Tokyo) has signed an alliance agreement with Yamaki Co. (Ehime, Japan) that Ajinomoto says will accelerate growth and reduce costs. Ajinomoto specializes in food products and ingredients, amino acids, and pharmaceuticals, and Yamaki focuses on the manufacture and sale of processed foods and seafood. Ajinomoto will acquire a 33.4% stake in Yamaki by the end of next month, and Yamaki will acquire 20% of processed seafood company Bonito Technical Laboratory (Shizuoka, Japan), an Ajinomoto subsidiary, under the terms of the deal.
