Aditya Birla to Buy Kanoria’s Chlor-Alkali Division

Aditya Birla Chemicals (Rehla, India), part of the Aditya Birla Group (Mumbai), says its board of directors has approved the acquisition of the chlor-alkali division of Kanoria Chemicals & Industries (Kolkata, India) for Rs8.3 billion ($187 million). The chlor-alkali division generated sales of about Rs3.03 billion in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of May.
