Mitsui Chemicals Restructures PU Business, Closes Chiba PPG Plant

Mitsui Chemicals has embarked on a major restructuring program for its polyurethanes (PU) business, which will involve sourcing isocyanates and other PU intermediates from Sabic and rationalizing polypropylene glycol (PPG) manufacturing assets in Japan. “Our polyurethane business has been facing serious constraints and challenges due to the sluggish market conditions and oversupply associated with additional production bases in China,” the company says.
