Average U.S. chlor-alkali operating rates fell one percentage point in September compared with the prior month, to 92%, according to the Chlorine Institute (Arlington, VA). Chlorine production fell 3.4% in September compared with August. About 40,937 tons less chlorine gas and 24,679 tons less liquid chlorine were produced, down about 3.9% and 2.8%, respectively.
