US butadiene on the rise

After bottoming out below 43 cts/lb in August, butadiene prices in the United States have been trending upward. However, demand remains weak, says IHS Chemical’s Market Advisory Service: Global C4 Olefins & Elastomers Summary. “Clearly, we are no longer at the bottom of the butadiene market, but the increase has not given consumers sufficient incentive to deviate from their plans to maintain low inventories to meet year-end targets,” the report says.
