US PVC export prices trend upward

With the construction season in the United States underway, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producers have announced a 2-ct/lb June or July increase for domestic contracts, but buyers say there is no clear cost basis given the difficulty of raising prices on downstream products such as pipe, a recent report from IHS Chemical says. April PVC contracts rolled over from March at 62–65 cts/lb for pipe-grade resin and 67–71 cts/lb for general-purpose resin despite the nomination of 3-ct/lb increases by Axiall as well as OxyVinyls.
