U.S. Olefins Tracking Downward

North American olefin prices are returning to more realistic values after a series of steam cracker outages inflated spot and contract prices earlier this year. Butadiene and propylene are each tracking lower, and ethylene is making a small upward climb. U.S. ethylene contracts for September rolled over at 39 cts/lb after settling in a two-month deal for the months of July and August. Spot prices, meanwhile, have been on the rise.
