Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics U.S. Olefins Production Rises10:19 AM MDT | June 13, 2011 U.S. olefins production rose sequentially in the first-quarter of 2011 by an average of 5.7%, according to the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA; Washington). The increase was led by butadiene, which rose 12.3% from the fourth-quarter of 2010, to 890 million lbs. The increase in the first three months of the year was attributed to a large decrease in production during the fourth-quarter. Meanwhile, production for ethylene and propylene was stronger than previous quarters. Ethylene increased 2.4% from the fourth-quarter of 2010, to 13.4...
