U.S., European PVC Prices Rising, But Meet Some Resistance

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) price in North America are marching higher. After consecutive price increases of 2 cts/lb in January and February, producers are pushing a 3-cts/lb increase for March. The more aggressive sellers insist that the economic recovery is accelerating and that demand will strengthen through the spring and summer construction seasons. The announced increase is protection for the hikes already in place, as well as insurance against feedstock prices becoming higher than expected, some market watchers say.
