Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics Thai PET Producer to Build U.S. Plant7:16 AM MDT | August 6, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Indorama Polymers (Bangkok) says it plans to invest $140 million to build a 420,000 m.t./year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) complex in the U.S. for completion in February 2009. The company plans to locate the plants next to a feedstock supplier, but it did not disclose further details. The company says demand growth, low capital cost, and surplus raw materials availability make the project attractive. Indorama’s Starpet subsidiary in North America completed an expansion in March that boosted PET capacity at its Asheboro, NC plant from 80,000 m.t./year...
