Surprises shift price outlook for ethylene and benzene in the US

Operational issues will keep US supplies of ethylene relatively tight for the next couple of months, IHS Chemical projects. However, weak derivative exports will leave US propylene comfortably balanced. High demand and supply issues have sharply increased US benzene prices, and US para -xylene ( p -xylene) prices are expected to peak in July and August, although new supply will depress the market.
