Sonatrach-OCI JV starts up fertilizer complex in Algeria

Sorfert Algérie, a fertilizer joint venture between Sonatrach (Algiers) and OCI (Cairo), has commenced commercial production at Arzew, Algeria, OCI has announced. The jv’s complex has capacity to produce 800,000 m.t./year of merchant ammonia and 1.2 million m.t./year of urea. The full ramp-up of the two production lines and the start of exports are due by the end of this month, OCI says.
