Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics Shintech Completes PVC Expansion7:09 AM MDT | October 11, 2010 Shintech, the wholly owned subsidiary and U.S. vinyls business of Shin-Etsu Chemical, has completed its polyvinyl chloride (PVC) expansion at Plaquemine, LA that doubled PVC capacity to about 600,000 m.t./year. The unit is not operating at full capacity, sources say. Shintech operates two other PVC plants in the U.S., including a 300,000-m.t./year plant also at Plaquemine and a 1.45-million m.t./year plant at Freeport, TX. The expansion comes at time when North American PVC export demand is robust. Export sales were about 475 million lbs in August, up nearly 22%...
