Robust Export Demand Anchors Soda Ash Producers

The soda ash market is expected to be healthy this year as global export demand increases, industry players say. â€śAs we begin 2011, global soda ash demand is recovering at a solid pace,â€ť Mark Douglas, v.p. and general manager/industry chemicals at FMC said in a recent conference call for investors. â€śWe expect global demand for soda ash to grow by about 4%-5% in 2011, hitting an all-time high and exceeding 2008 levels of about 48 million m.t.,â€ť Douglas says.
