Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics PE Producers Delay Increase1:38 PM MDT | July 24, 2007 | Peck Hwee Sim Polyethylene (PE) producers have delayed increases of 5 cts-7 cts/lb that were originally set to take effect on April 1, to May 1, due to lukewarm demand, market players say. Producers had originally sought a 7-cts/lb increase for all grades of PE, but cut the increase for all PE to 5 cts/lb, except for hexane- and octene-based linear low-density PE. PE prices rose 3 cts/lb each in February and March, buoyed by strong demand, particularly from export markets, market players say. Volumes in March were especially strong, producers say.
