Mitsubishi Chemical and Schulman Dissolve Sunprene JV

Mitsubishi Chemical and A. Schulman have agreed to dissolve and liquidate their Sunprene Co. (Akron, OH) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compounds joint venture. Schulman has a 70% stake in Sunprene and Mitsubishi holds the rest. The plant has capacity of 12,000 m.t./year. Sunprene will be dissolved by year-end and the assets will be transferred to Mitsubishi Chemical’s U.S. performance polymers unit, the company says. Mitsubishi Chemical will operate the business.
