Methanex Considers Relocating Chile Methanol Plant to U.S.

Aitken: Methanol demand is healthy. Methanex says it is considering relocating its methanol operations at Cabo Negro, Chile to the U.S. Gulf Coast. The complex has the capacity to produce about 3.8 million m.t./year of methanol but has been under-utilized for years due to diminished gas production from suppliers in Argentina. Low natural gas prices in North America are the main draw for Methanex.
