Long ethylene market lowers contract price for Europe

Europe’s August ethylene contract price settled down €15/m.t. ($20), to €1,205/m.t. del northwestern Europe. Producers attempted to maintain the July price level, but a long market balance worked against them. “The result of [ethylene contract price] discussions is likely to be weighted towards consumers’ position with little producers can do, and they will be forced to settle for a lower price, though one which still gives a reasonable margin in August,” IHS Chemical says in its latest Market Advisory Service: Europe/Middle East...
