Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics Koppers to Close Plant6:02 AM MST | February 17, 2012 Koppers (Pittsburgh), a maker of coal tar-based products, says it will close its wood treating facility at Grenada, MS by July 31. The plant produces utility poles and had net sales of about $30 million in 2011. The cost to close the Grenada facility is estimated at less than $4 million, of which $1.4 million has been previously accrued. The costs will be incurred over the next two years, Koppers says. “Plant logistics issues and future capital expenditures required to obtain a more cost effective operation played a significant role in our decision,” says...
