IHS: North America ethylene up on prebuying, propylene to spike

With 2013 winding down, North America’s olefin consumers are preparing for the new year. Ethylene consumers are stocking up against spring turnarounds, say analysts at IHS Chemical. Propylene consumers are considering the likelihood of a first-half 2014 price spike. Ethylene spot prices rose slightly during the week ended 13 December, according to IHS Chemical’s Market Advisory Service: North America Light Olefins.
