Global Olefins Prices Move Lower

Global olefins prices are easing, with the notable exception of butadiene, as supply improves and crude oil prices decline. U.S. ethylene contracts for June settled down 3.5 cts/lb, or about 6%, to 55 cts/lb del. Spot ethylene began July trading around 54 cts-55 cts/lb, falling about 10 cts/lb from the end of June. Spot polymer-grade propylene edged lower by about 5 cts/lb, to 76 cts-77 cts/lb, while chemical-grade propylene edged lower by the same amount, to 73 cts-74 cts/lb.
