Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics Global Olefins Prices Move Lower10:48 AM MDT | July 8, 2011 | —LINDSEY BEWLEY Global olefins prices are easing, with the notable exception of butadiene, as supply improves and crude oil prices decline. U.S. ethylene contracts for June settled down 3.5 cts/lb, or about 6%, to 55 cts/lb del. Spot ethylene began July trading around 54 cts-55 cts/lb, falling about 10 cts/lb from the end of June. Spot polymer-grade propylene edged lower by about 5 cts/lb, to 76 cts-77 cts/lb, while chemical-grade propylene edged lower by the same amount, to 73 cts-74 cts/lb.
