Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics EU Court Rejects Appeal to Permit Use of Azinphos-methyl Pesticide4:27 AM MDT | July 29, 2008 | Alex Scott The European Court of Justice has rejected an appeal by pesticides manufacturer Makhteshim-Agan (Airport City, Israel) to overturn an EU ban, agreed in 2006, on the use of the pesticide azinphos-methyl (AZM). Mackhteshim has been ordered to pay undisclosed costs accrued by the European Commission in defending the lawsuit. The use of AZM in the U.S. is permitted on fruit crops through 2012, and on nut crops through 2009.
