Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics Demand for North American Polyester Continues to Grow12:03 PM MDT | March 18, 2011 | —LINDSEY BEWLEY The outlook for the North American polyester textile filament market is positive as demand increases due to recovery in end-use markets, says Michael Bermish, senior consultant at PCI Xylenes and Polyesters (Guilford, U.K.). U.S. polyester production is expected to increase about 7%/year from 2010 to 2012, to about 780,000 m.t. Recovery in four main markets—apparel, home furnishing, carpets and industrial/automotive—is driving polyester growth, Bermish says. This information is only available to Chemical Week subscribers.
