Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics Costs Push Up Isocyanates Prices1:26 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Tight supply and sharp increases in benzene feedstock costs have prompted methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) and toluene diisocyanate (TDI) producers to announce price increases of 4%-6%. BASF and Huntsman are separately seeking North American MDI increases of 5 cts/lb. Huntsman is asking for MDI increases of €100/m.t. in Africa, Europe, and the Mideast. The increases are effective June 1. Dow Chemical recently announced a similar MDI pricing initiative (CW, May 16, p. 27). Both BASF and Dow have announced a 10-cts/lb increase on TDI as well...
