Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics Chlor-Alkali Production Rises9:29 AM MDT | October 7, 2011 Average U.S. chlor-alkali operating rates rose 2-percentage points in August, to 87%, according to the latest statistics reported by The Chlorine Institute (Arlington, VA). Total chlorine production increased about 1.4% in August compared with July. Chlorine gas production was higher by about 27,495 tons, to 992,371 tons, up 2.9% from July. Liquid chlorine production fell by 2,758 tons, to 795,802 tons, down 0.3% from the year-ago period.
