Chlor-Alkali Producers Nominate Caustic Soda Price Hikes

A flurry of caustic soda price increases were nominated by most North American producers in mid-August, after numerous failed attempts to raise contract prices in July by $50/ton. Formosa Plastics, Olin, OxyChem and Shintech have all announced increases of $65/ton, citing tight supply amid strong demand. Players say the $50/ton increase in July was not accepted market-wide, prompting producers to again make an attempt at hiking prices.
