Butadiene Producers Eye Hikes

North American butadiene producers have nominated hefty price increases for March. As of CW press time, three U.S. producers have separately proposed increases of 25 cts/lb, 27 cts/lb, and 32 cts/lb. Higher prices are warranted because of maintenance outages at several steam crackers and rising export demand, producers say. Buyers, meanwhile, point to dwindling spot market activity as a sign that the market will not support a spike in butadiene prices.
