Bright Spot Ahead for North American Soda Ash Producers

The U.S. soda ash industry is expected to remain robust this year as growth in domestic and export demand should support a continued recovery in production, industry experts say. “As we begin 2012, the global soda ash market remains healthy,” Mark Douglas, president of industrial chemicals at FMC said in a recent conference call for investors. “Global demand is expected to reach an all-time high in 2012, growing 5% over the previous high in 2011 and taking demand up to 55 million tons.” Worldwide demand totaled an estimated 52.2 million...
