Two-month settlement likely for April, May US ethylene contracts

With US ethylene contracts for April and May in limbo as of 30 May, buyers and sellers are likely to focus on a two-month settlement in early June, according to a recent report from IHS Chemical. Negotiators last failed to reach a monthly settlement in November 2010, with the result that November and December 2010 were part of a two-month settlement reached in January 2011. The average spot price for ethylene in May declined about 2.25 cts/lb from April, to 57.34 cts/lb, despite a series of steam cracker outages along the US Gulf Coast, says the report. Spot...
