Chemical Week Magazine :: Basic Chemicals & Plastics China PBR expansions offer Europe a butadiene opportunity7:11 AM MST | February 15, 2013 | —Clay Boswell With the Lunar New Year behind them and a flood of new polybutadiene rubber (PBR) capacity just ahead, Chinese traders are buying butadiene with the expectation that supplies will soon tighten, say analysts at IHS Chemical. Imports from Europe could ease the situation, but production and logistical issues there have complicated the aggregation of cargoes. Butadiene prices increased in Asia from $1,650–1,750/m.t. delivered in early January to $1,800–1,900/m.t. delivered at month’s end, according to the latest Global C4 Olefins & Elastomers...
