The CW75 Index fell 1% for the week ending January 15, in line with broader market indexes. The stock market is down due to concerns about a weakening U.S. economy. Basic chemical shares rose 2.9%, led by a 26.4% jump in Georgia Chemical’s stock price. Diversified and specialty chemical stocks, however, fell 1% and 2%, respectively. Georgia Gulf topped the leaders’ list on news that the company reduced term debt by $71.5 million during fourth-quarter 2007.
