The CW 75 index dropped 7.1% for the week ended January 20, slightly outperforming the Morgan Stanley Global Composite and the S&P 500 indexes, which dropped 7.5% and 7.6%, respectively. Basic chemical shares fell 7.2%, diversified shares dipped 7.3%, and specialty chemical stocks sank 6.5%. Sixty-eight companies posted losses for the week, and seven posted gains. Shin-Etsu Chemical posted the biggest gain for the week at 8.9%, as Japanese firms’ shares rallied on the yen’s weakening against the dollar. American Vanguard and Ecolab stocks...
