The CW75 Index rose 3.5% for the week ending February 12, ahead of broader market indexes including the Morgan Stanley global composite and Standard & Poor’s 500, which were flat. Positive chemical industry earnings growth drove up the CW75. Basic chemical shares increased 4.8%, led by Compass Minerals, whose stock jumped 28.2%, to $51.26/share, on higher earnings. Compass reported fourth-quarter 2007 net income up 92%, to $50.4 million ($1.53/share). The consensus of analysts’ estimates as reported by First Call (Boston) was for $1.05/share...
